National Institute of Agricultural Botany

  • Project included Master Planning, LVIA and Arboricultural work
  • Work on two sites: Park Farm & Bingham
  • Complex site constraints due to adjacency to sensitive areas

Wynne-Williams Associates were appointed to carry out arboricultural work, conduct an LVIA, and design to planning for the National Institute of Agricultural Botany (NIAB). The project covers two sites:

Park Farm – The development of research focused barns in a rural landscape setting. This site has a focus on sustainable drainage with swales and ecological planting to enhance biodiversity.

Bingham – A newly developed lab facility and refurbishment of existing buildings, with extensive external landscape areas and car parking.

Both sites presented design challenges with sensitive surroundings and level constraints. Our designs focused on clearly defining boundaries, thresholds, and quality entrance spaces. In addition, through taking a sustainable approach to design, we were able to incorporate a cycle way and swales. The project was approved for planning in 2018.
