The Maple Park development is a housing scheme in Long Stratton, a village between Ipswich and Norfolk. South Norfolk District Council owned the land and wanted a development that would include social housing funded by the private housing to be built on the site. We were brought into the project by Ingleton Wood Architects, the lead consultants, as we had a relationship with them from previous projects.

The objective was to prepare plans that would achieve planning approval. This was a well wooded, sloping site with particular care needed to overcome draining and gas supply issues which influenced what could be done on the site. We worked in discussion with the local planning team from the start, as well as in consultation with drainage engineers, to ensure we had a full understanding of what was required and what would work for planning approval.

Our design and access statement for the planning application covered the way the design overcame the particular issues as well as detailing the hard and soft landscaping and planting plans to work with the level changes along with ongoing maintenance requirements. Planning permission for the project was given and we continued to be involved in implementation of the design.
