We recently completed a car park extension scheme for the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts in Norwich. The grade II* listed art gallery and museum was designed by Norman Foster and is host to regular national and international exhibitions. It is a prominent feature of the parkland landscape at the University of East Anglia.
The Centre struggled to provide enough visitor parking, especially during temporary exhibitions when numbers can increase by over 200 per day. We were asked to study the problem and provide a solution which was sensitive to the setting of the building. It was also a requirement that our proposals get approval from Foster and Partners, who have ongoing input into all aspects relating to the Sainsbury Centre. Read more

Arboricultural staff at WWA have recently completed a Bat Awareness and Bat Scoping Training Day with Anglian Ecology. The one-day course involved both classroom study and on-site practical survey work and provided knowledge on bat species and habitats as well as bat foraging and commuting. Successful completion of this course enables them to undertake initial scoping surveys on all sites, and also secondary non-specialist surveys on non-development sites, as proposed by British Standard 8596:2015 Surveying for bats in trees and woodlands guide. In 2015 we won a tender to design the grounds of a new secondary tuition centre in Enfield. It is now getting near time for our design to be built – always an exciting point in a project.
Secondary Tuition Centres are for children who have either been excluded from their school or who are at risk of being so. Orchardside Centre is a new building on the site of a former plant nursery and garden centre on Bullsmoor Lane in Enfield. It is close to Capel Manor College, a nationally-famous horticultural college, and is in a conservation area. Read more
