New Projects at The University of Essex
We are pleased to announce four new projects to continue our work with the University of Essex, Colchester campus.
The Walton Courtyard and Frinton Walkway project involves WWA producing a paving and planting scheme. In addition to the completed Manningtree, Rowhedge and North courtyards, this is the fourth courtyard design that we have undertaken for the University.
Another scheme currently in progress is to create a memorial feature to commemorate the students and staff that have passed away during their time at the University. A stone memorial will include a combination of innovative lighting and materials to create a space for quiet reflection (see concept sketch above).
WWA have also been commissioned to enhance the landscape around the Grade II listed Wivenhoe House Hotel. We will draw upon our wealth of experience in sensitive design techniques to complement the heritage setting for this project.
The final project to be commissioned will involve us refreshing the lighting and seating in a series of communal squares which run through the heart of the University. The challenge will be to create an increased sense of cohesion whilst maintaining the individual character of each square.
